MGC Roadster (1968)

KTJ 868F spent its early life in the Preston & Southport area. An old still of an MOT dating from November 1976 shows a mileage of 78164.

By the early 1980's the car was owned by a Mr Carl Stirling who had stored the car in his barn awaiting restoration.

As Mr Stirling had not the funds or time to restore the car he sold it in 1987 to Peter Rogers of Wey Classics, Surrey, who intended to restore it for his personal use.

A stripdown started in the late 90's but unfortunately came to a halt when Peter Rogers sadly passed away.

Peters son, Jeremy, put the car back into store until 2018 when he began work on the car (again for himself) prior to closing the business due to ill health.

A long standing customer of theirs, Mr Martin Warren, saw the car under restoration to a running state and decided to purchase it.

​

His interest however then turned to another car in 2019, at which point Quarry Classics stepped up and bought it from him via Robin Lawton who we know and respect for his ability to describe a car correctly.

We purchased the car 'blind' over the phone based on Robin's guidance, and during the latter part of 2019 stripped it down to re-finish it to the 'Quarry Classics standard' that we have become renowned for. We also spent a great deal of time and effort adding detailed finishes to refine the car to the standard that it deserved.
