MGB Roadster (1970)

A highly correct to original car with an interesting history

This very fine example spent its early life in the Wrexham area and its MOT right from the first in 1973 at 27000 miles show modest annual mileages up to 1988 at 71000 miles. The car was then bought by an enthusiast in Leicester who, it would appear, commissioned a major body and paint restoration after he had detrimmed the car internally and externally.
A large external trim invoice dated 1992 indicates that he then began the retrim. A conversation we have had with his widow and daughter revealed that he never completed this work and the car stood, dry stored, until disposal in 2008 after his death, to a very talented and competent new owner in Hull, who took a series of pictures of the car in its 2008 condition.
This owner completed the rebuild and further enhancement of the car adding to its impressive history file. He displayed the car at several shows and MG classic car events.
Upon his death, his wife, who we have spoken to at length kept the car maintained to a high standard for a number of years but eventually decided it was time to part company, hence our acquisition.
Drive Impressions.
Drives, pulls, steers and brakes very well indeed.
We will be replacing the front springs as part of the cars full service and MOT preparation as they have settled some what.
This is a very fine car indeed that has not suffered the all too frequent “deathride”, inflicted on so many classic cars in the past at the hands of ever more impecunious owners, running the car into the ground until it “cries out for mercy”!
Must be the best of its type anywhere at only £16,495. With rampant inflation just around the corner, now is the time to invest in and enjoy a fast-appreciating classic like this.
